2013 Sunscape Dealer Conference Is A Big Thumbs-Up

Madico welcomed 40 dealers of Sunscape® window film products to the first annual Sunscape Dealer Conference, held February 20-22 at the Tradewinds Island Beach Resort in St. Petersburg, Florida. Seminars, presentations, networking and relaxation made up the agenda for this fun, informative get-together.

Our dealers began to arrive from all over the U.S. and Canada on Wednesday the 20th. Some attended an IWFA flat glass accreditation class that afternoon; later, most everyone gathered for the welcome reception and dinner at the Tradewinds’ Island Grill.

On Thursday, dealers and Madico staff got to it early, beginning with breakfast and diving right into the day’s talks and presentations soon after. Madico Program Manager Mike Byrd outlined the day’s activities, then CEO Bob Connelly addressed the conference via recorded video.

The rest of Thursday morning saw Madico personnel presenting on all things Sunscape window films, covering everything from strategy and concept of the Sunscape brand to research and development, from technical aspects of film and attachment systems to an overview of manufacturing processes. Madico’s marketing partner, Marketing In Color, gave a presentation on programs and techniques vital to the marketing strategy of window film dealers today, such as the use of social media, search engine optimization, and blogging to maximum advantage for “getting the phone to ring”.

Buses then transported dealers and staff to the Madico manufacturing plant in St. Petersburg for lunch outdoors under a tent on a warm, sunny afternoon. Dealers ate and socialized, then broke into small groups for a tour of the plant, visiting departments such as R and D, materials procurement, quality control, and shipping. When everyone had completed the tour, the entire group gathered under the tent again for an informative and lively Q&A session. The dealers aired concerns and suggestions, all of which were answered thoughtfully and candidly by the Madico team of officers and staff.

Then it was back to the Tradewinds to freshen up and change clothes, and on to Gators Cafe and Saloon in Treasure Island, for a mixer and dinner to wind Thursday down in a laid-back way.

Presentations following breakfast on Friday morning included technical instruction on glass and film, and a series of business development talks, covering topics like customer service, sales, and tips on marketing to consumers from two successful Sunscape dealers, Jack Audino and Chris Deluca. The 2013 Sunscape Dealer Conference closed with a review and general discussion led by Mike Byrd and Madico VP Jeffrey Plummer.
